Conflict of Interest Notification
From IAQforms
During mold remediation procedures, there is a potential for mold spores and other associated contaminants to be spread throughout the building if safe work practices, including the proper containment of the work area, are not established and maintained by the remediation contractor. Because mold spores cannot be seen by the naked eye, it is advised that post remediation verification (PRV) including microbial sampling be performed. Without PRV, elevated mold levels remaining inside and adjacent to the impacted area may not be detected. In addition, once the containment for the remediation project has been removed, microbial spores may spread to other parts of the building by the ventilation system.
PRV is best performed by a certified, independent third party consultant without financial, or other, ties to the remediation contractor. Some circumstances may limit your options with regards to the selection of a independent consultant, and you may elect to have the remediation contractor perform the PRV, but you should be aware that this creates a conflict of interest. The use of a third party consultant removes/eliminates the potential for intentional and/or accidental conflicts of interest and inherent bias. It also provides a higher degree of quality assurance not otherwise obtainable by using a remediation contractor for the performance of the PRV.
By signing below, you agree that you have been notified of the purpose and value of having a PRV performed by an independent certified consultant.
